After graduating from Toyo University he joined Tatsunoko Production where he became a storyboard artist and later episode director. He served two more years as a production assistant there until he left and became a freelance episode director. Today he works mainly for Bee Train, whose founder Kouichi Mashimo is a good friend of his.
